FMCSA-required post-trip driver vehicle inspection report covering all CMV safety components.
Federal regulations require CMV drivers to prepare a written report at the end of each day's work on the condition of the vehicle. This DVIR form covers all FMCSA 49 CFR 396.11 required items: air brakes, steering, lighting, tires, wheels, horn, windshield, coupling devices, emergency equipment, and any condition that could affect safe operation.
The motor carrier must review and sign the DVIR before the vehicle is dispatched. Completed reports create the inspection history that DOT officers review during roadside inspections and compliance audits.
