Complete at the end of each driving day. Report all defects to dispatch. Vehicle must not operate until safety defects are corrected.
A Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) form for commercial motor vehicle drivers completing post-trip inspections as required by FMCSA. Covers the 16 component categories specified in 49 CFR 396.11 — air brakes, coupling devices, exhaust, lighting, steering, suspension, tires, wheels, and windshield condition.
Federal regulations require CMV drivers to prepare a written report at the end of each driving day for any vehicle operated. Carriers must review each report, address any defects affecting safety, and certify the vehicle is safe before the next dispatch. This form satisfies the DVIR documentation requirement.
