Complete before returning keys. Report any new defect — do not leave it for the next driver.
A post-trip inspection checklist for US fleet drivers per FMCSA Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) requirements. Captures new defects, damage, warnings, and conditions discovered during the day — ensuring problems are reported and repaired before the next driver operates the vehicle.
FMCSA requires a written DVIR at the end of each day for CMVs. Even for non-CDL fleet vehicles, a post-trip report is best practice that prevents cascading defects.
