Review when adding new products, changing suppliers, or modifying recipes. Ensure all PPDS items have compliant labels before they reach the display.
A compliance checklist for food businesses that produce prepacked for direct sale (PPDS) food, verifying that allergen labelling meets the requirements of the UK Food Information (Amendment) Regulations 2019 — commonly known as Natasha's Law. Covers allergen identification across all products, ingredient list accuracy, label format and emphasis requirements, recipe change management, staff training, and documentation.
Since October 2021, all PPDS food — food that is packaged on the premises where it is sold, such as sandwiches, salads, and bakery items — must carry a full ingredient list with the 14 declarable allergens emphasised. Non-compliance carries serious legal and reputational consequences.
