Complete BEFORE hot work begins. Clear all combustibles within 10 metres. Assign a fire watch during AND for at least 60 minutes after work ends. Permit is valid for one shift only.
A hot work permit form for safety supervisors and maintenance managers authorising welding, cutting, brazing, grinding, or any operation producing sparks or open flame outside of designated hot work areas. Covers the pre-work fire hazard survey, combustible material clearance, fire suppression equipment placement, fire watch assignment, and the critical post-work monitoring period.
Hot work is a leading cause of industrial fires and insurance losses. Sparks can travel up to 10 metres and ignite combustibles hours after work ends. This permit ensures every precaution is taken before, during, and after hot work — the documentation that fire investigators and insurers require when incidents occur.
