A structured playground safety inspection covering equipment condition, surfacing, hardware, entrapment risks, and surrounding site hazards.
Playground injuries are among the most common liability claims for parks, schools, and property managers. Regular inspections catch hazards before they cause harm — loose bolts, cracked surfacing, sharp edges, entrapment gaps, and vandalism damage. This checklist follows the structure used by certified playground safety inspectors.
Inspect every playground at least monthly, with visual checks weekly. Document every finding — even if everything passes. A consistent inspection record is your strongest defence in a liability claim. Any item rated unsatisfactory should be cordoned off immediately until repaired.
