Log every significant event as it happens. Include times, names, descriptions, and outcomes. Do not leave blank gaps in the timeline.
A daily activity report (DAR) log for security officers to document everything that happens during their shift — patrol rounds, incidents, visitor entries, alarm activations, deliveries, maintenance observations, and general notes. Each entry is timestamped to create a chronological record of the shift.
The DAR is the security officer's primary work product. A thorough log protects the officer, the company, and the client — providing the documented timeline that investigators, insurers, and lawyers need when something goes wrong.
