Inspect with the student present at check-in and check-out. Photograph any existing damage at check-in. Compare check-out condition against check-in form. Both parties sign.
A room condition inspection form for university housing staff conducting check-in, mid-term, or check-out inspections of student dormitory rooms. Records the condition of all fixtures, furniture, walls, floors, windows, bathroom facilities, and fire safety equipment — creating the documented baseline for damage charges and the maintenance work order list for the turnaround period.
Dormitory inspections serve two purposes: documenting condition for damage liability and identifying maintenance needs. Without a signed check-in inspection, universities cannot charge for damage. Without check-out documentation, maintenance issues carry over to the next student. This form provides the evidence trail for both.
