Record twice daily — morning and afternoon. Each exhibit has specific target ranges — know them. Report any out-of-range reading immediately. Don't wait for the afternoon check if the morning reading is wrong.
A daily environmental monitoring log for zoo keepers and facilities staff recording temperature, humidity, and lighting conditions in climate-controlled animal exhibits. Tracks the specific conditions required for different species groups — tropical houses, reptile exhibits, aquarium water temperatures, nocturnal houses, amphibian enclosures, and indoor mammal exhibits — the data that proves habitats are maintained within each species' required range.
Many zoo animals require precise environmental conditions that differ dramatically from the local climate. A tropical bird house needs 25–30°C and 70%+ humidity. A desert reptile exhibit needs 30–35°C with a basking spot at 40°C. Nocturnal houses need reversed lighting. Daily monitoring catches HVAC failures, heater breakdowns, and lighting malfunctions before animals are harmed.
